Frontier
Youth Trust has a strong reputation for working with young people
who are marginalised from church and society. This CD-ROM distils
their experience and expertise in this area, making it available to
Christian youth workers in a very accessible format. And what a feast
it is!
The
CD-ROM has four modules on the key issues of Community, Communication,
Mission and Group Work. Each of those has six or seven sessions, which
in turn are broken down into three or more parts. In short, there
are over 700 screens of information with more than 130 pages of notes
and worksheets ready to print out. There's masses of information here
to be uncovered at the click of a mouse.
It's
not just a question of quantity though; this material has quality
too. Each part of a session provides an hour's teaching, supported
by a rich mixture of quotes, photos, video clips, music, worksheets,
definitions, extracts or Internet links. You can study the material
on your own, or easily use it with volunteers and colleagues. Lack
of time shouldn't put you off; you can dip into this CD-ROM again
and again, each time coming away with some new insight and ideas to
resource your work with young people. It combines practical ideas
with good theological thinking, encouraging serious reflection and
providing professional advice.
The
key strength of this resource is that it earthed in experience, written
by people who between them have many years’ experience of working
with young people at risk. You won't find any easy answers in this
resource, but you will find wisdom, support and encouragement for
your own work in this area.
