Colourful
art produced after a great team effort by Wilsic students has
taken pride of place in a regional show.
Over
twenty students collaborated to produce three large, multi-layered
collages from a variety of different materials and paints - and
two of the pieces were accepted in the Doncaster Open Art show.
Wilsic
senior teacher and artist John Wardle said it was a great achievement
for the students, whose work will now hang in the Doncaster Art
Gallery and Museum until January 2005.
“It’s
a great breakthrough to have our students’ work publicly
displayed,” said John.
He
explained that the students had been involved in a project based
on the environment, and gradually built up the collages with layers
of old paint and organic materials like leaves. Each week different
groups would add to the large board, until a colourful and textured
painting materialised.
“It
became multi-layered and gradually a nice ‘Jackson Pollock-ish’
colour picture emerged,” said John.
