Safe, Quality

 Services . . .

Croydon Social Services is staffed by people who are dedicated to the care of others - we recognise the importance of our social care staff and support people by initial induction, ongoing supervision and appraisals and relevant training.

We believe that our workforce should reflect the Croydon community and that all groups within the community should have equal access to our employment opportunities. We are committed to diversity and taking positive action to eliminate discrimination and, by redressing imbalances, to achieve genuine equality of opportunity.

We believe that to attract those of you who share in our values and are committed to providing a quality service, we need to be innovative and are continually looking at new and improved ways of working. For example we have organised for controlled social work caseloads and invested in Personal Qualifications.

Providing a service as we do in Social Services, demands continual changes and patterns of work that need to be flexible to meet the needs of the service. There are a number of family friendly policies that have been developed to assist employees in combining their career and family responsibilities (such as job sharing, maternity support leave, adoption leave, parental support leave).

Other benefits are discounts available at certain outlets in the Croydon area, no smoking policy in Council buildings with designated smoking areas, employee care policy (includes confidential counselling service for employees), subsidised gymnasium facilities, initiatives on healthy lifestyles, Day Nursery which provides nursery places at a discounted rate and we are also working towards Investors in People.
