Sexuality and Disability
NEW DATE: 25th January 2005 - Perth

This event still has plenty of space for more applicants and may be relevant to foster carers and others as well as residential workers. It is particularly relevant in relation to working with disabled young people with severe and complex needs. It is being run in conjunction with NCH Scotland and NHS Forth Valley. They have produced free manuals for all participants. They were produced after joint research and provide helpful and practical advice. Cost £75.

Research Day Seminar
24th February – Ramada Jarvis Livingstone

This event has just been confirmed and a programme and booking form are now available. Led by Andy Kendrick, speakers include Howard Meltzer from the Office fore National Statistics. He has recently produced an important report on the mental health of young people who are looked after in Scotland. Workshops provide up to date information on current and recent research and it is hoped that the event will attract interest from the whole of the UK and Ireland. Cost £75.

Attachment: Transforming Practice
21st March - Dewars Centre, Perth

This seminar will explore attachment as a framework for changing the lives of children and young people and will have a focus on residential child care. We are delighted to have secured the services of some of the leading practitioners in the field including: Helen Minnis, Richard Rollinson, Kate Skinner, and Steven Hothersall. There will be ample opportunities for discussion. Cost £75.

Reclaiming Childhood in Residential Child Care
14th& 15th June 2005 – Glasgow Moat House

Robbie Gilligan, an engaging speaker and author of numerous works on resilience, has agreed to come over from Ireland to this conference as keynote speaker and we will be located in a large hotel with plenty of space right beside the river. The planning team welcome informal contact and ideas for the event. A call for papers/invitation for people who would like to contribute to workshops etc is available on the website and responses are required by 31st January 2005.

Childhoods 2005 - Children and Youth in Emerging and Transforming Societies
