Welcome to the Children Magazine.
Most of our links now use this symbol to take you where you want to go --

When you accessed the magazine today, you may have been asked for your job title and we hope you answered honestly - even if you're unemployed! The reason for asking the question this month is simply that we want to produce the magazine aimed at the readership and if we know what you do, we can tailor future issues for you.
Please note that this does not tell us who you are or identify you in any way. If you also entered your e-mail address, we will send you details of the contents of the magazine each month as soon as it is published on the internet. We won't bombard you with 'mailshots' or 'offers.'
The magazine is a non profit making venture with the aim of increasing the quality of childcare and serving workers with children and young people in all types of service and setting.

We have two articles this month on the Criminal Records Bureau. We have waited some time for a national system of police checking, and no doubt the services will be pleased to leave behind the delays of the old system. But will the new system be efficient?

Last month, Terry Hoon complained about complaining. Now he's having doubts about compensation for abuse.

Keith White is looking at 'Life Long Belonging' in the In Residence column; Kathleen Lane has got to Israel; and Gus Greene is facing more problems in Bluebrick.

In the International Section, Dr Steen Lasson tells us what COFACE is all about, and there is a brief description of childcare in Bulgaria.

Also in the International Section, we have a United Nations Press Release on a report of the Democratic Republic of the Congo and an attempt to clarify the fate of children sentenced to capital punishment.

Our Editorials look at the need to check quality in early years childcare and the world-wide links in trade and its impact on all of us.

Finally, have a look at Bits and Pieces, and try the news section for the latest information about children around the world.
