The
5th Christian Child Care Forum
‘Celebrating Children’
helping to redeem the future of childhood
Wednesday 13th April 1030-1545
St James Church Crypt, Clerkenwell Lane , London EC1R 0EA
(Nearest
tube: Farringdon; Kings Cross is one stop away)
Our last Forum day signalled the launch of a process aimed at
securing a society in which every child matters. We looked at
the need to champion this cause and we learned how other major
campaigns have been birthed and developed. Since then there has
been a dialogue between several major players in the field to
try to mark out the issues and a process of delivering our aims.
If creating a society in which every child matters is the outcome
we all strive for, the process of achieving it and the various
contributions of Forum members and organisations will be exciting
to see unfold. The Children Society for example, has already got
work in progress under the title of ‘The Good Childhood
Project’ which seeks to raise the important issues at a
policy level. A different but complementary strand of involvement
will be explored at our coming Forum on April 13th 2005.
Celebrating Children is a significant and unique approach to training
people who wish to work with children. The syllabus addresses
children from their perspective - it enters the world of the child
so that future child care professionals at all levels are properly
equipped to contribute sensitively and comprehensively to their
development as rounded whole people. The training syllabus takes
children seriously, and is critically shaped by a theological
perspective which helps all to nurture and celebrate the unique
and fragile gift we call childhood. As Celebrating Children is
rolled out we believe it will become a significant means of delivering
a society in which every child matters.
The outcomes of the day will be that participants will have:
a
clear overview of the every child matters campaign
a clear understanding of the Celebrating Children course,
how it fits with the delivery of a society in which every child
matters
how participants can access and use Celebrating Children
The Cost of the day, including lunch is £23.00 with concessions
for retired people and unemployed people (£16.00).
