The 2004 ACWA Conference
EXPRESSION of INTEREST and CALL FOR PAPERS
Date: 2 to 4 August 2004
Location: Sydney - Sydney Convention & Exhibition Centre Darling Harbour
Conference program will have streamed sessions on:
• out of home care for children and young people
• working with Indigenous children families and communities
• supporting families – prevention and intervention
• participation of children and young people.
The conference will also incorporate professional development Master Classes and a Management and Leadership Institute.
Keynote Presenters will include:
Professor Marianne Berry Professor of Social Welfare at the University of Kansas, USA who has numerous publications and extensive research and practice experience in public child welfare agencies, including family preservation services, foster care, and adoption. Marianne is a founding member of the International Association of Cross-National Evaluation in Child and Family Services.
Professor Roger Bullock established the Social Research Unit at Dartington, UK. He is now Chair of the Centre for Social Policy in The Warren House Group at Dartington, which carries out research development and dissemination activities concerned with children in need. He is also Professor Emeritus of Child Welfare Research at Bristol University and commissioning editor of the journal Adoption and Fostering.
Dr Dorothy Scott is currently the Executive Secretary of The Ian Potter Foundation where she is on secondment from her position as Associate Professor in the School of Social Work at The University of Melbourne. She is well-known in the field of child welfare as a practitioner, educator, researcher, expert witness and policy adviser.
Hosted by the Association of Childrens Welfare Agencies (ACWA) in conjunction with the Family Support Services Association, the Child and Family Welfare Association of Australia, the CREATE Foundation, the Aboriginal Child Family and Community Care State Secretariat and the NSW Department of Community Services.
