Research findings and theory
on childcare and social education

As part of the existing web magazine, it is proposed to set up a web Journal of articles which have been properly refereed so that it is of an academically acceptable standard.

The content will consist of :

- research findings
- theoretical work
- book reviews
- contents lists of hard copy academic journals
.

The aim will be to publish :

- new items in each monthly issue, to be accepted from any credible source around the world;

- reprints of articles from other academic journals, subject to the authors' and publishers' permission, as necessary, and with appropriate acknowledgements, since many academic journals have very small circulations and the use of the website will permit a wider range of readers to be aware of their contents. Some articles will also be drawn from publications which do not major on childcare and social education.

Back numbers will be instantly accessible, and the journal will therefore represent a steadily accumulating corpus of material, which will be indexed.

An Editorial Committee will be established, with representatives from the main countries likely to contribute. Some contacts have already been made with potential members. The Committee will not need to meet but will maintain contact through email, fax, telephone and mail. A Chair / Editor will be invited to carry overall responsibility, for example in selecting readers of material and taking final decisions on items accepted.

Readers will be aware that a proportion of the articles published to date are of journal standard, but this section will not go live until the Editor and the Editorial Committee have been appointed, to ensure its credibility from the start.
