Christmas Tree and Carol Singing in Trafalgar Square

Event Norwegian Christmas Tree
Date Tuesday 30 November 2004 – Sunday 6 January 2005
Venue Trafalgar Square, London SW1

Free

The Christmas Tree, a traditional gift from the people of Norway, will be lit at a ceremony on the evening of Tuesday 30 November. It will be on Trafalgar Square for Londoners and visitors to the capital to enjoy until Sunday 6 January 2005 – the twelfth night of Christmas.

The Christmas Tree will also provide the backdrop to a free programme of carol singing, which will begin on 4 December 2004 and run until Christmas Eve. All Londoners, as well as visitors to the capital, are welcome to attend.

Each carol singing session will last around one hour and those taking part in the carol singing can use it as an opportunity to raise funds for a range of voluntary and charitable organisations.

Groups wishing to take part in the carol singing programme should contact the Squares Management team at the Greater London Authority on 020 7983 4234, or email trafalgar.square@london.gov.uk.
