Youngsters try their hand at a range of careers

Students
tried their hand at bricklaying, woodwork and a range of other
practical skills during a special careers week at Hill House School.
Youngsters
met a selection of workers who demonstrated different aspects
of their jobs, including a bricklayer who made a barbecue, a carpenter
who made a child’s toy and a policeman. They also visited
a local farm to see for themselves some of the tasks undertaken
on a daily basis in an agricultural environment.
Andy
Evans, Deputy Head at Hill House, said, “The youngsters
clearly got a lot of enjoyment in participating in the activities
and found this a worthwhile experience. We noticed that some students
participated in activities for up to an hour which was excellent.
The careers week was such a success that we are planning to make
it an annual event.”
