The Fédération Internationale des Communautés Educatives (FICE) held its Biennial Congress in the Dutch city of Maastricht, famous for the 1991 European Union Treaty, and nearly 500 delegates from nearly forty countries attended to discuss the Century of the Child - a chance to take a long look back to see what had been learnt in the 1900s and a look forward to see where we should be heading. The following section will contain reports on sessions, ideas which were shared, feed-back from FICE meetings, something about Maastricht itself, and a few pictures to show what FICE members look like. Contributions to this section are welcome. If you were at the Congress, send in your memories and the messages you took away with you. If you were a speaker and you have your text to hand, email it and we will add it to the file. The Congress organisers will be publishing a selection of the speeches in due course, so putting your piece in the web magazine now will give readers a taster for the Congress book. |

The Dutch FICE Section is highly professional and well organised, and they produced a Congress with an enormous variety of material, with something of interest for everyone. Peter Van Den Bergh and his team of congress organisers are to be congratulated on a splendid event. This record is a tribute to their work, and offers a chance for readers to share the experience world-wide. David Lane, Editor
